More Information
On March 25, 2018, the exact Claude Debussy’s centennial death anniversary date, the pianist Taka Kigawa will perform his “Estampes” and “Twelve Etudes for Piano” (both works as complete sets) at Spectrum in Brooklyn, NY at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Taka Kigawa has performed the piano works of Debussy world wide, receiving unanimous acclaim from both critics and audiences alike. The New York Times praised his performance of Debussy works as, “He knows how to make this music (Debussy’s Preludes and ‘L’Isle Joyeuse’) sparkle.” Also, Argentina’s leading paper, La Nación hailed, “Kigawa proved himself a phenomenal virtuoso, both in the whole (Preludes) First Book and in the encore, the dazzling No. 12, Feux d’artifice (‘Fireworks’) from the Second Book of Preludes. Following his playing with a score, the perfection of hues, articulations and rhythms was amazing.”
Tickets: General Admission, $25 at the door from 6:30pm on the concert day.
The concert is immediately followed by Debussy Festival Wrapping-Up & Spectrum 2,000th Concert Celebration Party. Beverages and refreshments available.
