Taka Kigawa performs classical piano favorites.

The Nagano Prefectural Association of NY presents a benefit concert, “Concert for Nagano.” This event is to raise monetary donation to help those who have been affected by the category 5 typhoon, Hagibis (No. 19 in the year 2019) that struck Japan on October 12th, 2019 and caused a severe damage in Nagano prefecture as well as many other areas throughout Japan. The admission fee is fifty dollars at the door on the day of the event. Adding to the admission, they will accept voluntary donation. The reception will follow the concert. Light fare and beverages will be served. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Seats are first come, first served basis.

After deducting expenses, the Japanese American Association of New York, Inc. will send the proceeds from the event to Nagano Typhoon Hagibis (No. 19) Disaster Response Headquarters in the Nagano Prefectural Office, which will be used to help the people affected by the typhoon in Nagano prefecture.

The performer is a New York based concert pianist, Taka Kigawa, who is originally from Nagano. He will perform many of classical piano favorites.

The damage that the typhoon Hagibis caused in Nagano is one of the heaviest in the history of the prefecture. According to the Nagano Prefectural Government, as of October 29th, nearly 3,000 houses are completely or partially destroyed, more than 6,200 houses are flooded, 5 people died, and 7 people got severely injured. The total financial damage is more than 1.3 billion dollars. The amount is expected to rise as the close inspection continues.

The Nagano Prefectural Association of NY will continue support activities for Nagano. They are also accepting donation with personal checks until December 20, 2019. ニューヨーク及び近郊在住者で、長野県出身者または長野県にゆかりのある会員で構成される親睦団体「NY信州ゆかりの 会」が、大型の台風19号により大規模な被害を受けた長野県被災者への義援金を募るため、チャリティーコンサートを行う（日 時・会場は上記参照）。義援金となる入場料は50ドル。当日受付けにて。事前予約なし。軽食によるレセプション・懇親会 あり。入場料以外に、任意での寄付金も受け付ける。開場は午後1時30分。

集められた義援金は必要経費を差し引き、ニューヨーク日系人会から、長野県会計局が台風19号による被災者を支援する 義援金募集のために設立した特別口座、「長野県台風第19号災害対策本部」に送られる。

コンサート出演者は長野県出身、現在はニューヨークを拠点に活躍するコンサート・ピアニストの木川貴幸（英語表記・ Taka Kigawa）。クラシックピアノの名曲の数々を演奏する。

台風19号が長野県にもたらした被害は甚大で、同県における過去最大級の自然災害の一つとなっている。長野県などの公的機関の発表によれば、10月29日時点で家屋全壊は798世帯、半壊は1160世帯、一部損壊は1015世帯。また、床上浸水が 2545世帯、床下浸水が3713世帯で、避難者数は922人。死者5名、重傷者7名。総被害額は約1449億円で、正確な調査が進むに連れて被害額は増える見込み。
